Visiting artist Ben Knight is based in Kinston, North Carolina and has been painting for over 20 years. Knight has studied at the Art Institute of Chicago, Cooper Union, and the Art Students League under Larry Poons. Born in Chicago, Knight moved to New York to pursue his art career and eventually settled in Kinston to have more time and space to work.
In addition to his artistic career, Knight is also the co-owner of the Chef & the Farmer and Boiler Room Oyster Bar restaurants in Kinston. Ben and his wife, Vivian Howard, are the subjects in the Emmy, James Beard Foundation and Peabody award winning PBS series "A Chef's Life."
